Uplink frequency is different from downlink frequency for following reason: The satellite transmitter generates a signal that would jam its own receiver if both uplink and downlink shared the same frequency. However, there are three fundamental differences between the two channel models. The downlink frequency is the frequency which is used for transmission of signals from the satellite to the earth station receiver. The downlink and uplink channels shown in Figure 14.1 appear to be quite similar: the down-link is almost the same as the uplink with the direction of the arrows reversed. ![]()
